The Roger Williams Memorial is the first monument of its kind in Roger Williams Park.

Betsey Williams wanted a competition for design of a monument to her ancestor as a condition of her donation of land to the City of Providence to create Roger Williams Park. 18 sculptors submitted designs from around the country. The monument is 27.5 foot high, Roger Williams is cast in bronze and 7.5 foot high. At its base, Clio, the Muse of History, inscribes Roger Williams name. The bronze was cast in Munich, Germany. The granite base was quarried and cut in Westerly, Rhode Island.
