Funding a commemorative bench through the Roger Williams Park Conservancy for placement in Roger Williams Park offers members of our community a thoughtful and distinctive way to recognize a special person or occasion. In addition to providing a unique honor, commemorative benches contribute to the beauty and character of our landscape, enhance the visitor experience, and provide financial support for park programs and beautification efforts.  Commemorative benches are refurbished historic park benches that are rebuilt, renewed and restored, as these benches have an elegant design, and add to the beauty of the landscape.

Available in numerous locations approved throughout the Park’s 435 acres, benches provide comfort to visitors and remarkable views of the park year-round. Benches can be personalized with a message of the donor’s choosing, prominently installed as a plaque on the front of the bench.

A commemorative bench at Roger Williams Park may be secured for a 100 percent tax-deductible donation of $5,000. This gift covers the costs of refurbishing and maintaining the bench for 10 years.  Bench donations may be renewed at the same rate for additional 10-year increments. Donors should allow approximately 12 weeks from the day the donation is received for completion of installation.

If you have questions or would like to make arrangements for a commemorative bench, please email Bonnie Nickerson, Executive Director of the Roger Williams Park Conservancy – Bonnie@rwpconservancy.org.
