On May 30, 2020 Providence Mayor Jorge O. Elorza announced changes to COVID19 restrictions in Providence, via an executive order.   Per the order, beginning Monday, June 1, 2020 Roger Williams Park is open with the following restrictions:

Please note that the following restrictions are still in place until further notice by Mayor Elorza and the Parks Department:

  • Maple Avenue remains closed to vehicles, which means access to the Cundiff Lake boat launch remains closed to vehicles,
  • The Carousel Village, including the Hasbro Playground remain closed, and
  • The Museum of Natural History and the Botanical Center remain closed.

Remember to stay six-feet apart from others and cover your mouth and nose.

Do you know if you will be offering yoga in the park this summer?

    1. Kevin Essington says:

Stay tuned. We are working with the City to try and offer some kind of yoga, fitness and mindfulness programs. They would be small groups only, if we can figure it out.

  2. Lisa Rein says:

Are any bathrooms open in the park at this time?

    1. Kevin Essington says:

Unfortunately there are no bathrooms open at this time. Thank you for asking and stay tuned for updates

Are we allowed to play outdoor sports and activities such as volleyball, soccer, frisbee in the parking?

    1. Kevin Essington says:

The City is not encouraging outdoor sports in the Park with the exception of tennis, at this time. Check out Providence Tennis to get out on the clay courts: https://www.providencetennis.com/pages/index.cfm?siteid=22457

    Hi,
Are leashed dogs allowed in the park?

    1. Kevin Essington says:

Technically, dogs are not allowed in City of Providence parks except in designated dog parks.

  5. Paul McDonald says:

Are there plans to open the boat launch soon? Fishing season is quickly passing by.

    1. Kevin Essington says:

Maple Avenue remains closed as of this week, so the boat launch is effectively closed, but stay tuned here for updates. As a fellow angler all I can console you with is the thought of how great the fishing will be when it returns!
