The Roger Williams Park Conservancy is excited to present Movies in the Park 2018! These FREE, family-friendly events take place on Friday evenings at sunset on the Boathouse Lawn (across from the Carousel Village), following Food Truck Friday; see a Park map.

Presented in partnership with the Providence Children’s Film Festival, all events start with a selection of short films and will last approximately 2 hours.

Movies in the Park 2018 schedule:

July 20          Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory (1971)
Charlie, a poor but hopeful boy, seeks one of five coveted golden tickets for a tour of Willy Wonka’s mysterious chocolate factory – a mind-bending world of pure imagination.

August 3        Landfill Harmonic (2015)
A film about the transformative power of music, Landfill Harmonic shares the true story of an unlikely orchestra: a garbage picker, a music teacher and a group of children from Paraguay who play instruments made from repurposed junk.

August 17      The Muppets (2011)
When three Muppet fans learn that a greedy oil mogul wants to drill under the Muppet Theater, they set out to regroup the Muppets and put on one last show to save the theater.

Movies in the Park Event Tips

Where: The Boathouse Lawn is located directly across from the Carousel Village, the site of Food Truck Friday! See a Park map.

When: Movies will start at sunset, but you may want to arrive early to get set up.

What to bring: A blanket or chair to sit on, bug spray and sunscreen. You may want to bring a sweater or jacket in case the evening gets cool. Please do not bring your dog to the event.

Getting set up: Keep blankets as close together as possible to leave space for your neighbors. If you’re bringing chairs, please set them up farther back on the lawn so you don’t obstruct the view for those sitting on the grass.

Food & drinks: Pack a picnic or grab dinner at Food Truck Friday, from 5:00-8:30 PM at the Carousel Village. Please note that alcohol is prohibited at Roger Williams Park and in all Providence parks. The RWP Conservancy will have a water station to refill your reusable water bottles.

Bathrooms: Restrooms at the Carousel Village will be open through Food Truck Friday. After 8:30 PM, a restroom will be available at the Dalrymple Boathouse, located next to the lawn.

Keep it clean: Please collect all of your trash and take it with you when you leave, or look for the trash bags at the event. Thank you for helping to keep Roger Williams Park clean!

If you have any questions at the event, look for the RWP Conservancy info table on the Boathouse lawn.
