On the evening of October 7, 2021, over 130 Roger Williams Park neighbors, staff, partners, friends, and artists of all ages and backgrounds donned masks and mingled under the towering flora and twinkling lights of the Roger Williams Park Botanical Center for a community-based Open House. They enjoyed the premiere of a short film highlighting the results of the recent $17 million restoration of the park, and heard some exciting announcements about new projects for the park in 2022. Thanks to the Providence Parks Department, the Rhode Island Foundation, and hundreds of donors of all kinds, you will soon be able to enjoy a new landscape around the Botanical Center’s Rose Maze, a new playscape above the Hasbro Playground, new public art, and of course a new visitor’s center.
Local artist Donna Deandrea shared some photographs from the Open House. If you were not able to join us, please enjoy these and join us next year for more park community gatherings!
Wonderful presentation of the rejuvenation of the park that I love so much! I came here in 1976 to visit a friend and RWP closed the deal! I moved here 2 months later and have never left. Got my graduate degree from URI and have run my garden business since 1990. And all inspired by RWP in its “rough form”. Thanks!
