The Temple to Music is perhaps the most well-known structure in the Park.
The Temple to Music was built with a bequest from William Curtis Benedict, a successful olive oil merchant! Millions have attended hundreds of events at this beautiful building. The first performance, at the dedication of the Temple in 1924, drew 50,000 to hear the U.S. Marine Corps Band, members of the Metropolitan Opera, and the 284-member Providence Festival Chorus. Today the Temple hosts annual concerts by the Rhode Island Philharmonic and is especially popular for yoga, wedding and graduation photos, and great Instagram selfies!
