Thanks to everyone who joined us at our last community meeting! Since its inception, the Roger Williams Park Conservancy holds quarterly meetings for neighbors and users of the Park to hear the latest updates, ask questions, and provide input on capital improvements and programming in the Park. These events are informal gatherings and not official business meetings of the City or Conservancy.
Topics discussed at our last meeting:
Brian Byrnes, Deputy Superintendent of Providence Parks Dept., gave a brief presentation on maintenance and repair efforts performed throughout the year by the Parks Department in Roger Williams Park such as:
- Roadways and wayfinding
- Storm water management
- Landscape architecture and seasonal plantings
- Historic building preservation and restoration
- Providence Parks Dept. staffing
Recap of 2017 programming offered by the Conservancy including public performances, holiday tree lighting, trail walks, and seasonal tours – just to name a few!
Roger Williams Park Conservancy is close to hiring an Executive Director in the next few weeks!
Update on the Rhode Island Foundation $10 million campaign for RWP. Campaign funded capital improvements at the Boathouse, Betsey Williams Cottage, Temple to Music, Casino, and Japanese Garden are currently underway.
